In September 2004, Dr. Valley, wife Dawn and nine others raised nearly $15,000 in support by climbing Mt. Charleston in Nevada. The purpose of the climb was to raise funds for two groups: Operation Smile in Hanoi and Vietnam, and Children’s Dental Care International in Las Vegas. Both are non-profit organizations dedicated to providing underprivileged children with dental care. Operation Smile is nationally known for providing free reconstructive surgery to tens of thousands of children and young adults throughout the world. It took them 11 hours to summit and return the 12,000 foot mountain!
